Tench are brownish green in colour and cylindrical in shape and very small scales. The tench has a beautiful red/orange eyes. Tench have a large mouth with small barbels. There fins are thick and strong. Tench put up a great strong fight.It normally inhabits slow-moving freshwater habitats, particularly lakes and lowland rivers
Location: Tench normally inhabits slow-moving freshwater habitats, particularly lakes and lowland rivers. Tench like weedy muddy water where they root along the bottom. Often giving away their location by bubbles rising to the surface. Raking is especially useful when fishing for tench. Morning and evening are best for tench fishing and May and June the best months.
Distribution: The tench (Tinca tinca) of the cyprinid family found throughout Eurasia from Western Europe including the British Isles east into Asia as far as the Ob and Yenisei Rivers.
